We were commissioned by the Farm Medicine Center to design the Safer Farm web app suite interface in 2016. As a US organisation funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, all if their digital products needed to be Section 508 Compliant (US accessibility standard). Their in house development team had already set up a framework in ASP.NET but they needed a design team to help them improve the interface and experience pre-launch.
First, we mapped the existing interface then worked closely with the clients in-house development and usability teams to map a wide range of user journeys. Our findings allowed their team to make changes to the architecture while we designed the interface. We used a mobile-first approach as while this product was required to work seamlessly across devices, its primary focus was for use as a tool by farm managers and inspectors in the field.
The solution was a clean modern interface consistent with the new digital brand identity that we developed for their digital portfolio. The app suite is now used by farm managers and inspectors across the US.
