Community Stuff is an East Sussex based CIC (Community Interest Group) with a mission is to improve the lives of everyone living in the community through positive action and community involvement. They work with an extremely wide range of clients and as such their brand needed to be versatile yet accessible, communicating a positive and supportive message at every contact point. We have supported them with a full range of design and marketing services since they were founded in 2013.
Beginning with their identity, we designed a logotype and versatile colour palette then paired it with widely available type family (Lato). We wanted to allow it to be used easily by a large number of people with varying skill levels. The logotype was friendly and designed with the ability to easily generate sub-brands as they grew, without needing major redesigns to any aspect of the main brand.
The website is simple and communicates a few simple pieces of information well – who they are, what they do, their past projects and contact details. Day to day communication and marketing is mainly managed via facebook where they have a large engaged following. The website is used as a repository for project assets (there is a large collection of searchable recipes as part of their effort to support a range of health and cookery skills projects) as well as an asset for potential funders to visit and learn about what they do. The website has seen great success, helping the organisation gain funding from Sussex Police, Eastbourne Borough Council, The Lottery Fund as well as a number of other foundations.
The brand identity has become more substantial over time but the core elements remain the same. We have developed a simple but striking illustrative style to support all their marketing materials, and this is paired with photography of real people taken at events.
